Many gardeners desire immaculate foliage , but to us perfect foliation mean there are n’t enough caterpillars crunch leave of absence to make the gauze-like moths and smart - colored butterflies that we need . Many folks have lost the connectedness between the butterflies and moth they require , and the need to grow host works for the larva of those same butterflies and moths .
While bees and butterflies seem to be timeserving Renaissance man , sipping any flower — aboriginal or not — that pump the most sugary ambrosia at the moment , Caterpillar are fussy eaters , with most species consume only a few kinds of plants .
