Plants with a deep history become the perfect memorial for a loved one lost
Hi GPODers ! While most gardens could certainly be described as “ limited ” this space gives that adjective even more meaning . Today we ’re looking at the memorial garden that John Svinos created for his previous founding father in New Jersey :
My garden has been a memorial for my late dada . He was an zealous gardener as was his comrade and dad before him . They add up from the small island Kos in Greece , where they were the in burster of the gardens . Many of my plants were my papa and come from the island . Including speciality jasmine , Libyan Islamic Fighting Group and lemon trees , also hydrangea and hostas antecedently from his garden and brought to mine .
A consortium patio is the perfect post for a summertime container garden . As the mood in Greece is just a moment different than New Jersey , I ’m sure John takes extra care to shuffle these prized plants indoors when winter blow through the Mid - Atlantic .

I absolutely know the John included so much fun garden artistic creation with the industrial plant in his Padre ’s memorial garden . Rather than create a blank that is somber and sad , he created something filled with liveliness and joy . With the wind chimes singing with each gust of air , this look like the utter smear to immerse yourself in good memories .
This hopeful pinkbigleaf hydrangeais loving its billet by the pool . While many gardeners are eager to get their hydrangea in the ground as soon as potential , my varieties will be happy in a container for several years .
southerly magnolia ( Magnolia grandiflora , Zones 6–10 ) is the percipient star of this expanse , being absolutely framed by a garden archway that front to be wrapped in drawing string lights . Would have a go at it to see this space illuminated at night !

John ’s yield trees conflate and mingle with potted annual by the pocket billiards is giving his New Jersey garden a tropic vibe .
A finale up of a stunning jasmine flower , I believe this is ‘ Grand Duke of Tuscany ’ jasmine ( Jasminum sambac ‘ Grand Duke of Tuscany ’ , Zones 9–12 ) .
in conclusion , John ’s mythologic fig . While fig Tree may conjure double of cliff - side in Greece or roll hills in Italy , these edibles arerelatively cold hardy with the correct overwintering techniqueand can be grown in ground in most parts of the US . The most northern res publica can still get their filling of FIG by growing a dwarf smorgasbord in a container like John ’s other fruit tress above .
