This DIY undertaking would make a great gift , complete with a handwritten view . Will the ready to hand economic consumption for chalkboard paint ever arrive to an end ? When I came across Martha Stewart ’s late blog post , Repotting Orchids in the Greenhouse , I just fell in love with beautiful hand-crafted pots from master ceramicist , Guy Wolff , and his son , Ben .

I thought I ’d head out and search for something that I could customize to add a short deceitfulness to a potted orchidaceous plant . Gorgeous handmade pots were hard to detect where I was hunting . I did find a received terracotta pot with slats for air circulation that fit my orchidaceous plant , but did n’t have any pizzazz . A prompt stumble to the hardware store and inspiration was constitute : chalkboard paint !
I love thepainted pots at West Elm Marketand it ’s a really simple DIY if you have a half time of day to make your own .

1 . First , get prepped ! Wash and dry your terracotta removing any dirt or debris . Allow the pot and saucer to dry exhaustively before applying rouge . Shake or stir blackboard key until completely mixed .
2 . Using the paintbrush and foam roller , put on paint to exterior of flowerpot and discus as well as inside the tray of the dish aerial .
3 . Smooth out the paint with the roller to ensure you have a reproducible surface . Two or more coats may be necessary .
4 . After pot has dried completely and cure for 3 days , itch the meth all over the painted surface and erase . It is now quick to practice !
I have yet to repot my orchidaceous plant into the new blackboard pot as I check from Martha ’s blog that I should expect until it is finish blooming . When it is quick to move to the novel dope full clock time , these step by measure instructionsreally take the anxiety out of the process . Orchids can be a bit of a strange plant to deal with if you are used to plants with soil .
orchid are epiphytic ( just like my dear air plants ) mean they do n’t require to root into stain . It does imply that the roots need good air circulation and a bark / moss commixture to resolve in .
