Hi GPODers !

We ’re back in Sharon Burgmayer ’s colorful garden in Wayne , Pennsylvania . In casing you missed yesterday ’s post ( enamor up inPart 1 ) , we ’re start out the quick - season highlighting from the last two decades in Sharon ’s flower - filled garden . Yesterday we saw photos from 2001 to 2014 , and today we ’re dive back in with photos from the summer of 2015 and continuing on to more recent years . Here ’s a refresher course on what Sharon tell about her gardens :

This garden was created 35 class ago : we were so excited to finally have a garden ! Of the hundred of garden picture taken over the 3 decades , I have select these to show unlike parts of our property and how they have changed over the long time . The striking feature film is the prospicient perennial border of over 80 ft in duration , originally 12 ft inscrutable , but portions have expanded over the year as I set about to move plants out from the grow specter of the red Japanese maple you could see in the background . I ’m afraid I belong to to the horticultural zoo schooling of gardening : I want one of everything ! And then I follow the cottage garden method acting of take into account the plants to move around to whatever land site they favour . In increase , I included some striking trees : a fastball tree and an elderberry which is my preferred recent addition . Finally , the last picture is a poster gift I made for my married man , “ The Flowers at Beechtree Lane , ” that features flowers from the garden . The garden steps shown in one picture were build by my husband . The birdbath with the hand emerging we call the Hand of God and was a Mother ’s Day gift from my Word 20 some years ago .

July 2015 : One of the most interesting phenomenon to observe in retrospective that spans this many years is see things come full circle . In Part 1 we project Sharon ’s garden evolve into more pastel and cooler coloured flower after a riot of bright , bold bloom in 2001 . But by 2015 , it look like Sharon injected some more shining pappa back into this border with poppy and bee balm . The “ Hand of God ” continues to be the perfect focal point .

July 2015 : As Sharon advert above , increasing shade mean beds and borders need to transfer and expand to seek out the sun . She clearly takes all of these changes and development in stride , taking the chance to inclose new plant and reinvent her designs .

June 2015 : Mary Jane tree(Cotinus coggygria , Zones 4–8 ) , one of the two show - stopping trees that Sharon shout out in her introduction .

terrace 2016 : And while subtlety brings plenty of challenges , it also creates more prosperous area to gain in the garden . This shady patio look like the coziest little hideaway from intense summer heat . Shrubs , trees , and exuberant green perennials help make the distance private and cool .

Late Summer 2019 : We’ve see to it a lot of belated leaping and summit summer color , but Sharon included a couple of photos that highlight the deeper colors that emerge by and by in the season .

former Summer 2019 : As we should occur to expect from Sharon , plenty of flowers are still on display as the garden starts its transition into the cooler season .

Front Azaleas 2021 : container are n’t the only root of color in Sharon ’s front yard . A solicitation of azalea in pink and lily-white make for a dramatic front walk .

Back Garden 2023 : Another sublime seating area in the garden . A couple of Adirondack chair positioned in the spectre and surrounded by riotous plantings makes for another private garden oasis .

The Black Lace elderberry ( Sambucusnigra‘Eva ’ , Zones 4–7 ) that Sharon bring up was a favorite late increase . With its fine - textured black leafage counterpoint so beautifully with delicate light flowers , Black Lace elderberry wins the heart of many . The yield is usually not as flavorful as those bring forth byAmerican elderberry(S. canadensis , Zones 4–9 ) , but still completely edible and great for making hole !

Garden Steps and Herb Spiral 2024 : Do you even recognize these garden measure ? ? InPart 1we saw a photo of these steps shortly after installation in 2014 , 10 years afterwards and so many more beds and plants have been add to the mix . finally , “ The Flowers at Beechtree Lane ” poster that Sharon had made for her married man . What a beautiful souvenir of the gorgeous blossom grown in their gardens . It must also be a marvelous admonisher of the color that is to fall during cold winter day !
