I took this pic at a small fry ’s garden in Raleigh , North Carolina , last surrender . This drooping , end - of - the - time of year sunflower personify how I felt after a long , tough horticulture time of year , and then a few solar day of touring gardens in the tyrannical passion . But I realise the dish and amplitude in it , too . Now is the time for the birds to take nourishment from our gardens , and plant things like sunflowers and perennial with seeds to feed the shuttlecock sustain your garden interesting well into winter , both for their subtle seedy beauty and for the wildlife they ’ll attract when color is scarce .
