A trip across the pond
My name is Joan Ganley , and I live and garden in Calgary , Alberta ( Zone 4 ) . But today I would like to share icon taken during a trip to Ireland in May 2016 . While visiting house in Dublin , I had the chance to visitThe National Botanic Gardens of Ireland . Founded in 1795 , the garden cover 48 Accho and take over 20,000 works species . Here are a few highlights from my sojourn . May the circumstances of the Irish be with you !
The Teak House is locate near the botanical garden entree and provides space for floral carnival and exhibits . A cape primrose(Streptocarpushybrid , Zones 10–11 or as a houseplant ) demonstrate off here .

step away from the Teak House is the Alpine House . Alpine plants could easily rot if leave outdoors in Dublin ’s climate . This alpine table has captured my untested cousin ’s involvement !
Gooddrainageand protection from the element keeps these plants on the alpine board felicitous .
The Viking House and Garden with the Great Palm House in the scope . Based on archaeologic grounds , the Viking House is an precise refreshment of 9th- and tenth - century houses excavate in Dublin in 1961 . The Great Palm House , in the beginning build of wood in 1862 , was damage by a violent storm and rebuild in 1883 using branding iron .

The Cactus and Succulent House ( aka the Flowering House ) at the west entering to the Great Palm House features a compendium of over 1,000 species ofcacti and succulents .
stroll beyond the Great Palm House , you reach the Rockery , which was installed in the 1880s . This view from the Rockery face back toward the herbaceous molding .
There ’s much more to see at The National Botanic Gardens of Ireland , admit The Curvilinear Range ; The Victoria Waterlily House ; an botanical garden ; bottom and borders have herbaceous plants , eatage , fruits , and vegetables ; a rose garden ; a tea way ; and a depository library . It ’s definitely worth a stop — and you might even see a leprechaun !
