The beauty of late fall
I am Kevin Kelly , and I garden on a suburban belongings of a third of an Akko in Harrisburg , Pennsylvania ( Zone 6b ) . Autumn was slow to arrive and is slow to leave . My winter readiness is now complete . I have taken cuttings of my flame nettle and have propel my attender plants indoors for the winter . I spread about 1,200 pound of compost across the garden and engraft 1,000 light bulb . I treasure all my leaf and have fan out them around the garden . I also amass many additional leafage that neighbor raked out to the curb . I leave alone all the dry out stems of perennial brook to provide winter habitat for the insects , frogs , and other wildlife who share my garden space . Please enjoy the photos .

Dinosaur kale(Brassicaoleracea , coolheaded season yearly ) holds up well in the frigid weather . I arise a twelve plants from seed , and most spread throughout the cosmetic gardens , with one in the veggie garden . This was the best - tasting kale I have deplete .
The dried peak ofHydrangea paniculata‘Phantom ’ ( Zones 3–9 ) still look keen and withstand up well through the winter .
This is an image of my front K looking to the east . I have minimal pasture and use it as a pathway . The plant in the container near the wakeful celestial pole isSalixdiscolor(Zones 4–8 ) .

Fothergilla major(Zones 4–8 ) shows off its beautiful declination foliage .
Hydrangea quercifoliaSnow Queen ™ ( Zones 5–9 ) . Oakleaf hydrangea are marvellous aboriginal shrubs that have multiple season of interest . The autumn foliage is gorgeous .
Fallen folio are present in all my garden beds . Eventually they will transform into compost and enhance the soil . I test the grease every three year and have not call for to contribute any fertilizer in the last 15 years .

This is my pollinator garden , which is now in its third yr . This used to be a shade garden , and I had two Callery pears ( plant 25 year ago before I knew well ) . I cut down the invasive Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree and constitute a nativeNyssa sylvatica‘Tupelo Tower ’ ( Zones 3–9 ) on the left . The garden is now in full sun . It also take aboriginal grasses and perennials .
