OK , about the legal profession . What I did was ask somebody to build up me an ordinary set up planter box , but to make it the right top for a stripe , which turns out to be 42 inches marvelous . I had him put boards across part of the planter arena so I ’d have a property to set drink in between the plants . The spatial arrangement of the boards was n’t exactly the path I desire it to be , but the guy wire who build them for me very cautiously glued them in office in gain to using screws , so I was n’t capable to adjust them and they work just o.k. .
This was taken on the day I planted it — the mint has filled in since then . I added my own clipping , which in reality came from an amazing local company calledWallace & Hinzthat makes custom bar . They deal their left over bits and pieces as flake , and I discover pieces that outfit perfectly . I tarnish it all the darkest wood filth I could find , which turned out to be darker than the barstools I ’d already buy — but if you read last workweek ’s post , you ’re already getting the idea that none of this went precisely according to plan .
The shelf / vertical plantation owner behind the bar has a very obvious “ fictive front ” of Victorian trim . I could have boxed in the side and made it calculate more like it was meant to be that mode , but I was so burn out by that time – and so very lacking in woodworking skill – that I just screwed that trim onto the shelves , painted it , and called it salutary . It was mounted onto the fencepost with giant wood screw and L brackets , and I screwed a few horizontal instrument panel into the fence for more lateral support , and then cheat the back of the ledge into those boards .

The approximation for a perpendicular plantation owner behind the bar follow from this awing bar I saw in Montreal :
Ca n’t you just show it at nighttime when those shelves are filled with bottles and glassware ?
Another matter - and this wasSusan Morrison’sidea : These shelves unremarkably hold pots , dick , fertilizer , whatever – but if I have a company , I can just hose the whole matter down and use it for record and glasses and hooey like that . Nice , huh ? The guy who make the planters was like , “ You want a bookshelf ? Like , a bookshelf ? In the garden ? ” They are just like bookshelves , except there are little space between the panel so the whole thing can drain if I hose down it down .

What else ? Well , I did a pallet plantation owner , only I added sign trim to that as well to do it it up . It ride on concrete cube to kick upstairs it ( hidden pretty well by some agastache I plant in front of it ) and is bind to the fencepost with big woods piece of tail . ( If you want to have it away how to do this , I followedFern Richardson ’s instructions . )
ultimately , a twosome of Logos about seating . Because we expanded the paved domain ( check the former posts for a programme ) , I was able to function in a little seating , even in this narrow , alley - like space . That ’s nice because it gives a slimly angled view of the garden – which is not gentle in a farsighted , narrow-minded space . Also in this photo , you might see old windows hanging on the bulwark – I require something artsy that could give the garden some summit , and I figured I could use the glass to – I do n’t fuck – write cocktail recipe on ? Draw silly pictures ? You get the estimation .
Oh , and I should mention that if the container are sitting on the ground ( instead of on concrete ) they have no bottom . That way , they drain really well , and if I plant something deep - root , it can in reality grow down into material land if it want to .

Here ’s one more seating photo . This is our nice new stamp pad for garbage can , but I put the cans away when it ’s political party metre . I in reality have a really nice paint work bench that correspond in that spot , but I ca n’t seem to find a photo of the terrace . So here it is with another chair . You get the approximation . Seating .
And the porch got power - washed , cleaned , and sealed . Who knew those grey boards could be this colour again ? So it ’s not really big enough for much seating , but it ’s easygoing enough to move the funky old recycling bins off the porch and put a president there , too . ( Also , below mightily , you ’ll see that I put myTriolife planteron a stand and occupy it with cilantro , sweet basil , mint , etc . )
In keep with the Victorian theme , I even made a perpendicular plantation owner out of an old wooden medicine cabinet . The mirror had broken and fallen out during the last temblor , so I staple crybaby wire where the mirror was ( inside the cabinet doorway frame ) , drill drainage holes all around and water holes on top , and planted into it . It ’s also attached to the fencing with cubic decimetre - brackets , screws going into the mail service , and an extra ball of wood I screwed into the situation just underneath to help contain it into property . There are also closure of wood screwed into either side of the fence post so I could attach it in the midsection as well . It ’s clayey !

Okay , that ’s it for now ! If you ’re question what I ’m growing in this garden , it ’s all plants that can somehow be mixed into a drink – with one exception . I did n’t have the heart to throw out an old rhododendron that had been with the house forever . But other than that – every individual think is drinkable and mixable ! If you ’re endeavor to forecast out what that might imply , I’ve induce a farsighted list here(click “ former entries ” at the bottom to see the relaxation ) and most of it is uncommitted fromTerritorialthrough their Drunken Botanist Plant Collection , andLog House Plantsis betray them to West Coast garden middle as well .
