Peckerwood, East Side Patch, scat cats from plants, roses

Gardeners wo n’t soon draw a blank the “ wintertime of 2010 . ”   Indeed , it will be in quotations for yr , like “ the drought of 2009 ” and the “ 2007 floods . ” Gardeners draw a blank where they put their pruners , but they never forget weather upshot . It help us remember substantial life case . “ Oh yes ! It was 2005 . That was the yr of the hopper . Now I recall when we had the babe ! ”

badly , it shows that we are really connected to the real - life realness show , as play off to the ersatz version . Our headache for our garden connects us to what conditions events think to the farmers who provide our intellectual nourishment , and to our wildlife .

In our heartache over plants that may be lose , there is lulu in the “ wintertime of 2010 . ” I thank viewer Don Baker who found these sculptures in ice while weave a field with his grandchild .

Essentially , Robert Frost blossom or ice laurel wreath or ice efflorescence happen when sap in the radical freezing and ruin it open . Thank you , Don !

I ’m not ready to numerate anyone in or out in my garden . I can assure you that I fearfully peeked under the Satsuma ’s cover and saw green leaf ! Some lettuce was a little limp but not ready to give up . TheAgave celsiis : not sure . I ’ll report later . It ’s too early . For all you eager , anxious beavers , do n’t authorize out or dig up up .   That include the sago palms .

Mine does n’t face too hot .

Neither does the one I cave in to CTG ’s theatre director , Ed Fuentes .

The history behind this : I dug up that cycad last twelvemonth and moved it . It lost all its fronds , so I decide to replace it . But I could n’t stomach to toss it , so I stuck it in a potful , throw a spadeful of soil on it and stuck it behind the shed . One twenty-four hours it had new fronds coming out . To make it up to it , I gave it to Ed , who treasured it . Like a rescued pet , the cycad was so thankful that it grew into a beautiful plant in just a few month . Lesson here : this spring , we ’ll bring down off the foliage and see if the root glob made it through . This meter , I wo n’t be so hasty to sign on off on it . ( Greg pointed out that sago thenar did n’t live since the Prehistoric days by being chicken . )

As we border on taping in “ Fall 2009 , ” I feared that drought , heat , and a calendar month away to visit family in Scotland would end up in yet another cancellation . “ Fall 2009 ” expire down in CTG records as the most cancellations ever .

Instead , their garden was a nirvana and will to tough plant . See how they started from scratch to turn pasture and overgrown shrubs into a class terminus of find . specially , I know how their children are growing up in the garden . generation from now , their stories and “ weather condition result ” will encourage the gardeners of the future tense .
