Moving on after twenty years of gardening
Today ’s photos are from Angela Jobe .
I ’ve develop my 200th offspring ofFine Gardeningin front of me , looking at Garden Photo of the Day . I do n’t fuck why I ’ve never render anything before . I hazard I just did n’t think you ’d be concerned .
But things are dissimilar now . I ’ve been collecting stain under my nails in this garden for almost 20 years . It is jolly extra , and now it ’s hard to believe it was a cataclysm when we bought this star sign — pretty much nothing but ugly crimson and pinkish azaleas ( sorry , not a fan ) and lots of weedy vine .

Over the years , walls have been built and trees have been felled ( or come down in hurricanes ) , only to be carry through and repurposed into a rusticpergola . A shed was moved , Lucy Stone step have been hauled in and set . My father ’s 70 - yr - oldpeonieshave been transplanted and retransplanted .
In four weeks , we will be leaving , moving on to greener pastures — literally . We buy an old farm . We are in our 60s . What are we thinking ?
In the meantime , I suppose I ’d portion out my treasure . The people who are move in have no idea the love that lives in these gardens . Nor do they understand the relationship these plants have with the birds , the bee , the bloom , and the Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree . I love this place with all my heart . It will be tough to leave .

Every Sunday break of the day I stroll in the garden . It ’s my preferent time . These treasuresself - seeded . Mother Nature jazz what she is doing . These are my Sunday morning feet .
The back moulding was started from nothing 18 years ago . Now see at her . Some of the peonies date back to 1950 and were dug out of my sire ’s garden .
Thisunderused works , Amsoniahubrichtii(bluestar , Zones 5–8 ) , goes from diminutive fragile drear flowers to a human dynamo of golden feathery leaves in fall . Weigela‘Wine and Roses ’ ( zone 4–8 ) form a endearing background .

This mass of regal salvia looks likeSalviaguaranitica‘Amistad ’ ( zone 7–10 or as an annual ) .
In this wizard fit , dark pink in the back transitions to whiten in the front , with the piano pinkSedum‘Autumn Joy ’ ( Zones 3–10 ) in the eye .
A four - legged garden resident rest period on the stone step .

The color scheme along the Lucy Stone step is white bloom and yellow - gullible foliage .

Wine and Roses weigela makes a dark line to the lighter blossom around it .
