Why Prune Christmas Cactus?
You may want to reduce the size of your plant if it is becoming too tumid . Or one side is raise faster than the other and you require it more symmetrical .
If you are pruning to reduce the plant ’s size then you may lop back by a third each yr . This will also make a bushier plant with more places for blooms to develop .
This cactus below is my deterrent example . I have most of my cactus in smaller - sized pot that agree on my window sills , progress to it leisurely to keep many colors . I have 5 different colour at present .

It is getting a bit tall for this pot . This is because the pot is plastic thus a lighter weightiness and the plant is becoming top - clayey with all the healthy young growth . This makes the plant require to tip over .
( I now attempt to only pot up my Christmas / Thanksgiving cactus in Terra Cotta Pots for a few reasons , clack here for why I sleep together Terra Cotta mickle )
