I am currently converting a section of my back yard to a new garden field . I thought to myself , “ Self … this is a great time to go through the steps I have look at to realize a novel garden – from design to planning to execution . ”
For many of you , this will be a refresher course , and there are certainly stack of source in print and online on the subject .

That said , I will compose this serial of steps as more of an dateless diary that happens to educate as well . forward my dirty - apprehend friends …
When plan where I want to put my soon - to - be garden , I immediately retrieve of two thing – sunlight and water . The location had to be reasonably close to a piddle supply , but more importantly had to have a “ full 24-hour interval ’s supply ” of sunlight . We ’re talking most of a day here .
So there it went , right in the middle of the one thousand . I hope to convince most of my lawn to garden in the back pace . My future stirring of course – Mr. Miyagi from the Karate Kid .

Rather than using chemical substance to down the turf , I work with a slower , greener , and more effective solution – chocking the light by covering the area with a vinyl radical tarpaulin . The tarpaulin is oblige in place with stone and old iron barbell plates .
For those who want to have a garden but are n’t in a hurry , I finger this is the direction to go . Now is the consummate clip to do this ! peculiarly if you live up north and your grow time of year is already over for the year .
I ’ll give the grass a few week ( or more ) to die off . Then it ’s off to Step 2 , set up the land area that will environ the raised bed(s ) . stick around tuned .
