The Battle of the Patios

Steve Hayward from Sandy , Utah is validation that your loved one can only hold off from love horticulture for so long , and his wife Cindy ’s idea of a ' battle of the patios " was bright !

" I have been interested in gardening since building this home over 40 years ago . As a novice , I tried planting marigold in the shade as I feel color was ask to " brighten the space . " I quickly learned and have been learning and develop every year since . I guess I ’ve done well- in 2013 I received the grand trophy for landscape in my community of interests of Sandy , Utah . The photos that I present get along about when the pine tree on the Second Earl of Guilford side of the house became so large that the sess would no longer grow well so I resolve to convert to mostly shade plants ( i.e. hostas , restlessness , etc . ) I had declamatory pieces of stone instal for a terrace and I made a modest island for a spring , lace leaf maple , ceramic pots , and various plants designate in one of the exposure . The garden lights make it a very gratifying berth to be in the evenings . It was a challenge to garden under a spruce Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree and that is the reason for the slew . The spruce ’s eater roots ca n’t overrun them .

My wife , on the other hand , show an alive interest in gardening only two years ago . She decided to " stick claim " to the patio on the compass north side of the house where we have a cementum patio and 10 by 14 foot pergola . It has been interesting to watch her raise from like our garden to actively doing the gardening . She , as well as I , have our successes and disappointments . She demand it harder than I do when a industrial plant dies but never - the - less she is learning and doing a ok Book of Job .

Sorry if I ’m rambling but … So , Cindy ( my cute married woman ) decided to host a small dinner party company with the musical theme , " The Battle of the Patios . " People came , ride , ate and drank on both our terrace and then had to vote on the good one . Our friend are so diplomatical ! I could n’t believe it was a tie but so goes life . "
