TheNorthfield Garden Tour of 2015is finished , and I really love having so many visitor to my yard . It ’s interesting to see what people enquire about when they are on a tour – and I had three garden stars that passel of family line were specially interested in .

What ’s this passably orange annual ?

Probably the most asked about bloom in the garden were theseCampfire ™ Fireburst bidens , which are an yearly that I am testing for plant wholesalerProven Winnersas part of its garden writers trial run plant program . Campfire is one of the most productive , brilliant annuals that I ’ve ever taste and I think it is indeed a winner . The spectre of jaundiced and orange brightened up the small herb bottom that I have at the front of my house . I ’m growing them in pots , but you could certainly grow them in the front of a bed as well . These are not on the grocery yet , but will be in nurseries and garden nub in 2016 .

Is this a shrub ?

Not really . I have severalTwilite Prairieblues baptisiaaround my front grand , which are perennial that act like shrubs . I have a go at it baptisia ( also called fictitious indigo ) because it is a prairie plant that the bees love . It bloom in June with purple flowers on spike . There are white and even yellow baptisias , but I like the purple / blue single . After blooming , the plant forms cum pods , which eventually turn black . I leave mine standing all winter , and sometimes shake the seedpod , which make a rattling noise . In springtime , I cut the plants back . This can get to be a big plant ( more than 4 feet high and almost that blanket ) , so they may require some tie up or pruning back . I use half - hoops and bungee cords ( one of the most under - rated garden tools around ) to keep mine upright and looking pretty .

Can you use up these ?

baptisia in bungee cords

Yes , you may ! They are sour cherries . My cherry tree was full of ripe Chuck Berry and quite a few garden visitors taste the fruit . I really wish my littleBali cherry tree , which is a handsome , inadequate Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree in the front G . After the tour , I go out and pick a twosome of gallons of additional cherry . The residuum are jolly ripe or hard to reach , so I left them for the raspberry to enjoy .

Now that the tour is over , it ’s clip to relax and enjoy the garden and its garden stars .
