Seriously , is EVERYONE on drugs these days ?
I mean , I ’ve been cognise to drink coffee berry all day and sometimes mountain chain - smoke my pipe while writing , then have a cocktail before layer … but pharmaceuticals ? Not for me ! CLEAN LIVING , serviceman !
For years I ’ve advocated the use of pee as a fertilizer . It ’s truly an fantabulous plant promoter and a free source of garden fertility rate . I believe God designed it that way on purpose .

Go forrader , water your plants !
Yet the question always comes up – “ what if a somebody is on drug ? ”
As Sheila wrote earlier this workweek :

“ Something to remember for your TV audience . If they are on anymedications they may need to forgo the pee until they are off thedrugs . It all come out through the kidney . ”
Yeah , well … PeeWee Herman had something to say about that :
Do n’t do drugs !
Actually , on 2nd mentation , maybe most of the “ drug ” questions are n’t really about snap .
Some pharmaceuticals are n’t a lot better , though .
Anyhow , let ’s think this through .
Drugs in Urine – Bad for the Garden?
Well , that ’s a elusive one .
Your plants are likely to be unaffected by the drugs that communicate through your pee . I do n’t like the idea of adding pharmaceuticals to the garden , but in my wholly unscientific opinion , I would say it ’s pretty improbable that genus Beta blockers , for example , are go to mess up up your beet .
Or Oxycontin render your carrots too sleepy-eyed to make roots .
Or heroin cause your tomato plant to start run grime music , then die at long time 27 in a filthy hotel elbow room .
Oh , sorry – I estimate heroin is no longer a “ legit ” pharmaceutic . That was a few age back .
Anyhow , yeah … the drug are targeted at human physiology , which is quite dissimilar from that of plants .
Yet it gets big … drug are polluting our water supply . One of the worst is “ the pill : ”
“ After the alive ingredient in most birth control pills has done its tariff preventing gestation , it begins a second life as a pollutant that can harm wildlife in waterway .
Not only is ethinyl estradiol quite potent — creating “ androgyne ” Pisces the Fishes and amphibians — but it is very difficult to remove from effluent , which carries it into natural waterway .
Since women around the planettake the pill , this is a global problem . The European Union is the first entity to earnestly count mandating the remotion of ethinyl estradiol , also recognise as EE2 , from wastewater . However , as researchers point out in Thursday ’s ( May 24 ) issue of the journal Nature , the question of whether to remove the pollutant is not simple . ”
Personally , I think banning the tab is a great idea , but that ’s unlikely to encounter any time soon .
Personal Use
The head of using water as fertilizer when drugs are in bid is a personal one . I think it ’s blown out of proportion .
Are you using urine as fertilizer , then give the green goods to other people ? Well , that ’s NASTY !
in earnest , though – if it ’s your own garden and you ’re already taking thesetoxic substancesmedications for various ground , I do n’t recollect the little bit you might get back in your salad is a big spate . I would n’t desire to take any pharmaceuticals if at all possible and would n’t want to eat produce contaminated with them , but if I were already on , say , methproprotein convertase subtilisin kexin type 9 inhibitors , I would n’t interest about a tiny bit of it coming back to me via the garden .
My two cent .
You ’ll encounter a stack more on the employment of urine as fertilizer in my bookCompost Everything .
