When we first visit the household we live in now , it was a foreclosure house with an overgrown pace . ( Now it ’s a pay - off mansion with an overgrown one thousand . )
As I roll through the grand , I was n’t all that impressed by the variety of plant . There was some liriope dope , a few sad crepe myrtle , oak tree , a magnolia , a mellifluous gum tree and a variety of weeds like begger tick and heel common fennel . Not really inspiring … except for along one fence , where there were bunch of sourish fatal grapeshot . Wild bullace grape !

The kid and I eat a few during that sojourn , then basically forgot about the plants .
Now , however , we ’ve really go reckon forward to the harvest we get . Every twelvemonth , a few giant wild grape vine vines along the fencing produce a few gallons of grapes within reach … plus a few more gallons we ca n’t reach . ( My oldest boy jokes that the high - up ones are false at any rate so we should n’t occupy about strain to get them . )
Last workweek , we spent a duad of hours on a endearing good afternoon pick grapevine . I ’d been sitting at my computer for way too long , trying to get some piece of work done … and then the persuasion come into my head “ Hey , how about picking grapevine . ”

Some multitude make wild muscadines into wine-colored . I have n’t done that for two reasons :
1 . I consistently fail at winemaking2 . I ’m too faineant to try again

Instead , we render our wild grape into furious grape jamming .
In French , the ruined jounce are called “ Cadeaux de Noël , à partir de rachitique nester . ” Or something like that .
This is the time of twelvemonth to seek out untamed grapes in North Florida . Keep your eye opened – some are still mature – but they wo n’t be here for recollective .
